FAQs
What is the date of msfest 2010?
msfest 2010 will be held Saturday, February 6th 2010.
What time does the festival begin/end?
msfest Gates open at 10.30am and the first band will begin at approximately 11am. The festival will end at 12am (Midnight). Please have travel arranged and plans for eleven as for security we will need to ensure that everyone leaves the venue promptly and safely.
If I lose my ticket, can I get mine replaced with a new one?
Please be aware that tickets are non refundable or exchangeable under any circumstance. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but please make sure that you take care of your ticket as we will not provide new tickets for those that are accidentally misplaced. No exceptions. We have had past incidents of fraud and, unfortunately, these few "bad seeds" have forced us to make this decision.
I am a Companion Card holder and would like to attend msfest. What is your policy?
As with all OPCON events, msfest is a member of, and supports the Tasmanian Companion Card Program. Any Companion Card holder who purchases an msfest ticket will be given free entry into msfest for their carer. Companion Card holders must simply present their Companion Card at the front entrance and their carer will be given free entry to the festival. For additional information about the Companion Card Program, please visit http://companioncard.dpac.tas.gov.au/.
Can I bring food and drink with me to the festival?
Please be advised that for security reasons no hard/soft plastic containers/ESKIES will be allowed into the venue. We understand that people want to bring snacks with them, but please be advised that only clear plastic bags will be allowed on the premises. (One plastic bag per person.) We have 10,000 + people who will be entering and want to make the job for security as easy as possible. NO DRINK CONTAINERS / CUPS/ BOTTLES WILL BE ALLOWED. There will be free water available on site.
Is the 2010 festival in the same venue?
Yes! Inveresk Show Grounds, Inveresk. Entry is adjacent to the Inveresk Museum Carpark (please see site map for more details).
Will there be parking?
There is limited public parking outside the precinct. If you are looking to take the bus to or from the festival, please contact the friendly people at Tasmania's Own Redline Coaches for information at 1300 360 000.
If you are planning on driving to the festival, please do not drink and drive. Taxis will be available throughout and after the festival. If you are unsure whether you have had “one too many”, please utilise their service.
Will there be "pass outs" at the festival?
Due to licensing and security restrictions, we will NOT be giving pass outs for msfest 2010. A coat check and carry bags will be available at the festival to either check in items or carry any jumpers, jackets, hats etc. Although we are predicting a beautiful, warm day, please be prepared with everything you will need for the day and night. Otherwise, merchandise will be available for purchase on the day.
Will there be atms on site?
Eftpos facilities will be available (see site map for details). As this is a temporary service, it is not totally reliable throughout the day. We advise that you bring enough cash for food, drink and possibly, a festival T-shirt.
I live outside of Launceston and want to come to the festival. Can you tell me how to get there and back?
As festival organisers, we are thrilled that you have decided to make the journey from your home town to msfest and want EVERYONE to enjoy the unbeatable day of fun. Please visit, 'getting there' for all of the necessary information about how to get to the festival and, perhaps, ideas to wet your appetite about staying on our beautiful apple isle a little or a lot longer.
Am I allowed to bring a camera to the festival?
Yes you can, but please note that only small lens still cameras are permitted, no video cameras, professional still cameras or recording equipment. You will not gain entry to the site whilst in possession of the above and will be asked to return them to your vehicle or accommodation.
My child is only 12, is it safe for her/him to attend?
We work very closely with Launceston Police, Licensing and Security to make sure the festival is safe and secure for everyone of all ages. There will be a designated licensed area where IDs will be vigourously checked. No one under the age of 18 and/or not carrying a current photo ID will be allowed in the licensed area. Please be patient and understanding. Your safety is our priority. We want to ensure the responsible service of alcohol at all times and IDs will be checked throughout the day regardless if the person is already in the licensed area. There will also be a "chill out zone" specifically marked where festival-goers can go relax and speak to professionals who are specially trained to answer any queries or concerns.
I have a pet that I would like to bring to the festival, will he/she be allowed or will I have to smuggle them in?
We love our cuddly friends as much as everyone. However, sometimes our little friends can make people uncomfortable or become a health problem where food is around. You are more than welcome to attempt to smuggle your fuzzy friends in, but we can almost guarantee that you will be caught, cause a delay in the line and most likely not be very popular among other festival goers looking to get in and have fun.
Please follow the advice above to ensure everyone has a fun and safe day!
